In the spirit of respect for human dignity, integrity and spiritual and cultural values, the palliative care program is dedicated to relieving suffering and enhancing the quality of life for people living with advanced cancer or other terminal illnesses.
The palliative care program consists of an inpatient palliative care unit and outpatient community services through the Palliative Pain and Symptom Management Consultation Service.
What is Palliative Care?
Palliative care aims to relieve suffering and improve the quality of living and dying. It addresses the physical, psychological, social, spiritual and practical issues of the patient and their family, as well as their associated expectations, needs, hopes and fears.
Palliative care also helps the patient and their family cope with loss and grief during the illness and bereavement process.
