Reporting to the Director of Nursing Practice, the Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is responsible to enhance nursing practice corporately throughout Bruyère Continuing Care, address the complex needs of Bruyère Continuing Care's patient/resident populations, and influence health policy within the organization and in the larger sector of care. The core domains of the APN’s role include clinical practice, leadership, education, and research. The APN is an expert in a specialized area of nursing practice, he/she assumes a leadership role in complex clinical situations, is responsible for the generation of research findings as well as the dissemination and utilization of research, and the integration of research with practice. He/she acts as a change agent and coach at the nurse-patient level, establishes effective collaborative relationships with patients/residents, families, health care professionals, administrators, as well as academic and community partners.
This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent interpersonal skills and excellent organization skills. The incumbent requires demonstrated evidence of ongoing academic and professional activities.
