LOCATION: CHAMP Office located at 2625 Queensview Dr., Ottawa, ON

 

KEY FUNCTION:

The role of the project manager, CHAMP is to manage and lead the effective implementation of the MEDITECH v6.1 electronic health record for the CHAMP group of hospitals. Leading a large project team, the project manager will be responsible for coordinating project team members, developing project plans, monitoring and controlling the implementation, working with IS/IT, Clinical Informatics, and clinicians to effectively implement the shared regional MEDITECH electronic health record system. The project manager will develop an implementation plan in concert with the Regional Director CHAMP and the project management office.
 

REPORTING:

Under the direction of the Director CHAMP
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To develop MEDITECH 6.1 implementation plan in concert with the Regional Director CHAMP, IS/IT and the CHAMP project management office.
  • To successfully execute the project to agreed time, scope, budget and quality including developing objectives, phasing and content of the project to deliver on the business case benefits, budget and timelines.
  • To perform the relevant project management processes - i.e. initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control and close, and the supporting processes e.g. scope, cost, time, issue, risk, resource, communication, stakeholder management ensuring that the required artifacts (e.g. project charter) are delivered and approved appropriately.
  • Manage and report on schedules, project scope, and overall project organization to ensure requirements and project delivery dates are clearly communicated, understood, and executed upon.
  • Plan, monitor, and manage project change through formal change management processes and stakeholder/customer relationship management including reporting on variances to the approved project baseline and managing the approval or mitigation of these as appropriate.
  • To interface and communicate with project teams, management, customers and stakeholders including implementing and working through defined governance processes.
  • Take the lead of key project issues and drive them to completion
  • To proactively identify project risks and issues - leading team to develop risk management and issue management plans, create and implements strategy to mitigate shortfalls in timeline and budget.
  • To maintain steady communication with development and/or analytical staff, business customers and management on project progress.
  • To close the project and formalize acceptance of the project results ensuring that the benefits realization have been achieved or a formal plan is in place to manage these.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary education and a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in IS/IT project management
  • Or fifteen (15) years’ related commensurate experience in IS/IT project management
  • Proven experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills required
  • Strong knowledge of project management best practices and methodologies
  • Proven business analysis and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

Preferred:

  • Experience implementing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) / Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
  • Experience with the MEDITECH EHR
  • PMP Certification
