Function Summary 

The clerk will act as the receptionist for the family medicine clinic, answering the phone and directing calls, greeting and registering patients and entering their records into the electronic medical record, scheduling patient appointments and creating provider schedules, enrolling patients into government programs, receiving and sorting mail, faxes and electronic communication, scanning documents into the electronic medical record, maintaining clinic supplies and supporting the team environment for primary care.

Required Qualifications

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Fluent in English and French, spoken and written

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Recent work experience as clerk/receptionist in family medicine centre
  • Excellent listening skills coupled with the ability to offer tactful, courteous client-centered service
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing work environment
  • Good personal judgement and the ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • Superior interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Knowledge of Bruyère Continuing Care programs & services, as well as external agencies
