Proud of our Forty Under 40 award recipient!

05/02/2018

The Ottawa Chamber of Commerce has announced the recipients of its Forty Under 40 awards for 2018. We were very excited to learn that our very own Amy Porteous, vice-president of Public Affairs, Planning and Family Medicine, had made the prestigious list!

Amy has occupied a senior leadership role in health care for over 13 years. At Bruyère, she is admired for her collaborative nature, providing leadership to staff, overseeing projects from start to finish, developing cases for action and identifying solutions to address complex issues.

Some of Amy’s most notable accomplishments include:

  • The development of service enhancement proposals, such as the one that lead to the build of the Bruyère Village—a $70-M independent and assisted living apartment complex aimed at providing seniors with affordable and supportive housing.
  • Being involved in the submission of a proposal for Bruyère’s Saint-Louis Residence to be recognized as a Centre for Learning, Research and Innovation—one of only three Ontario long-term care homes (out of 650) to receive this designation.
  • Leading the submission of the first specialized dialysis unit designation in long-term care.
  • Being one of Ontario’s youngest long-term care home administrators at age 34.
  • Winning the 2017 Great Canadian Healthcare Debate, where she advocated for a national seniors affordable and supportive housing strategy.
Join us in congratulating Amy for this impressive achievement!
