Demonstration update

02/18/2022

Policing efforts are increasing. Ottawa police have begun arresting convoy protestors. Last night, a perimeter was set up in the downtown core from Bronson Avenue to the canal and from highway 417 to Parliament hill, with many check points to control the movement of people and vehicles in this area. Our campuses are not inside this perimeter.

We want to once again reiterate that our campuses are safe places to be and that our teams remain in constant contact with city officials, Ottawa police and the regional emergency response teams. We are closely monitoring the evolving situation and ready to respond, if needed, to ensure we minimize any potential disruptions to our patients, residents and staff teams.

Thank you to all our staff. We know today was a challenging commute with the closures, check points and to top it off, 30 cms of snow! We appreciate your continued commitment to the people we care for and each other.

For our commuting team members:

As the police response continues, there may be more road closures and there will be impacts to our transit system. Over the weekend, please use all the tools available in planning your commute that have been shared by email. Please give yourself lots of time to arrive and bring you Bruyère ID and another piece of identification with you just in case.

To stay up to date on the response, the City of Ottawa will provide updates here and you can find the latest from Ottawa Police here.

Any relevant updates for our teams will be shared through email, InfoNet, Twitter and Facebook, as we have been doing over the last few weeks.
