Bruyère RI Welcomes New Palliative Care Research Chair

We are pleased to announce Sarina Isenberg, PhD, will be joining the Research Institute as the Bruyère Chair in Mixed Methods Palliative Care Research. Palliative care is an important part of the work we do at Bruyère, and the contributions made to care through research are an integral part of how we move the field forward by offering evidence-based interventions and stronger infrastructure for quality improvement in clinical care programs.
This Chair, created in partnership with the University of Ottawa’s Division of Palliative Care and Department of Medicine, will support and expand upon Bruyère’s research programs by integrating quantitative and qualitative methodologies. It will also serve the development of prognostic and health planning tools in collaboration with the Bruyère Centre for Individualized Health.
Isenberg has specialized in palliative care research with the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care and the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute at Mount Sinai. Her work encompasses evaluating the quality, access, and cost-effectiveness of palliative care, assessing patient and caregiver experiences, and testing and improving interventions. Alongside her research, Isenberg is active with a number of regional palliative care organizations, including the Pan-Canadian Palliative Care Research Collaborative, Unity Health’s Network Excellence in Palliative Care, and the Ontario Palliative Care Network.
