About Bruyère

Bruyère Board of Directors – Recruiting New Community Representatives for 2020-21

If you are looking for a fulfilling opportunity to give back to your community while using your skills and expertise to help shape the future of health care, consider joining the board of directors of Bruyère, Ottawa’s oldest hospital.

The Bruyère Board of Directors may appoint individuals from the community at large for the knowledge, skills, and experiences they would bring to a particular Board committee. As a community representative you will be involved in helping to guide the organization to meet the needs of our community in the areas of healthy aging, brain health and rehabilitation.

Bruyère is Ottawa’s first hospital founded over 170 years ago by the Sisters of Charity and now has 731 beds and more than 2,000 staff across three sites in the Ottawa area. It is a regional, academic organization providing care to the medically complex and vulnerable, with a focus on those requiring complex care and rehabilitation, geriatrics and palliative care. We are looking for energetic, skilled individuals to become part of a strong team as we build for the future. Preferred candidates bring knowledge of the health care sector, a strong professional or business background, demonstrated leadership and time to contribute meaningfully to the organization. Recruitment will reflect the ethnic diversity of community. Areas of specific expertise are reviewed on an ongoing basis and matched with current needs.

Community representatives are elected for a one year term with eligibility for re-election. The application process includes a face-to-face interview. As a new community representative, you will receive a comprehensive orientation and be assigned a mentor to guide your growth and development.

The recruitment process will begin in February 2020.  For any information, please contact:
