Bruyère welcomes The Honourable Merrilee Fullerton, Minister of Long-Term Care

09/04/2019

This week, we had the pleasure of touring the Bruyère Village and Saint-Louis Residence with The Honourable Merrilee Fullerton, Minister of Long-Term Care. We were able to provide an overview of Bruyère’s programs and services, touching specifically on our vision for long-term care in the region and our research and innovation to maximize quality of life in care and delay and, in some cases, prevent the path to long-term care (LTC).

The Minister emphasized that the Ministry is committed to opening up 15,000 new LTC spaces across the province. During the tour, we highlighted Bruyère’s recent submission to expand our services as a provider of LTC and to build another Village in the city’s southwest. The Minister was excited to learn of this development and committed to follow-up.

Minister Fullerton was very interested in Bruyère’s work towards creating the next generation of LTC and our role in teaching the next generation of LTC workers. She was impressed with Bruyère’s leadership as home to one of the three Centres for Learning, Research and Innovation in long term care in the province.

She mentioned that she will take every opportunity to highlight the great work that Bruyère is leading.
