Bruyère to require vaccination for long-term care visitors and designated care partners

11/01/2021

Bruyère will require all visitors and Designated Care Partners at our long-term care Homes to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19, effective November 15, 2021.

On November 15, 2021, all staff working in the Ontario long-term care sector are required to be vaccinated. Bruyère made vaccination mandatory for staff ahead of this deadline on October 15, 2021, in line with changes made at Bruyère’s hospitals (see Bruyère to require vaccination for visitors and staff). Requiring visitors and Designated Care Partners at our long-term care homes to be vaccinated is another step we can take to keep the people we care for safe.

We realize that in some rare cases exemptions may be required and encourage people to reach out to the home of their loved one in these cases to discuss, before November 15, 2021. Please call/email 613-562-6262 x 2518/sld-ltc@bruyere.org.

After November 15, 2021, you will be required to show proof of exemption or vaccination to visit our long-term care homes. Our visitors will have until November 30, 2021 to show proof of two doses, as long as they have received their first does before November 15.

Please note: Children under the age of 12 are a guaranteed exception to this rule and will be able to visit as they do now.

We want to thank our visitors and designated care partners for taking this step with us to do everything we can to keep the people we care for and our teams safe.
