The Ontario Centres for Learning, Research and Innovation in Long-Term Care (CLRI) support long-term care (LTC) homes to improve the quality of life and care for residents through building capacity and promoting innovative best practices among LTC homes in Ontario. We engage with people connected with the LTC sector. The Ontario CLRI is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Long-Term Care and is hosted by Baycrest Health Sciences in Toronto, Bruyère in Ottawa, and Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging in Waterloo.
 
The Ontario CLRI is seeking an experienced, preferably bilingual, Evaluation Coordinator to support the Ontario CLRI in its program evaluation and strategic planning related activities. The Evaluation Coordinator will contribute to the achievement of Ontario CLRI goals through the implementation of program evaluation, coordinating activities among the Ontario CLRI’s three teams, and connecting with LTC sector stakeholders to gather feedback and evaluation data. The Ontario CLRI program evaluation supports program planning and management data management and knowledge mobilisation, and feeds into communication about the achievements of and the value program provides to the sector as a whole. The program evaluation activities are built on evaluation theory and practice, quality improvement thinking and use different tools to ensure an overall robust and utility-focused evaluation.
 
This position supports the whole Ontario CLRI program and will be posted with the Ontario CLRI at Bruyère. It requires teamwork, flexibility, attention to detail, initiative, judgment, as well as problem-solving, project and time management skills to address non-routine tasks.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. Coordinate Ontario CLRI program evaluation activities 65%

  • Using the established program evaluation plan, coordinate program evaluation activities across the three sites (primarily data collection, analysis and synthesis, but also tool development as needed) to drive decision-making, under the guidance of the Ontario CLRI Evaluation Working Group. This includes detailed planning, day-to-day delivery and reporting on program evaluation activities.
  • Substantial communication within the Ontario CLRI teams and also with a variety of external program partners across the sector to engage them in consultation, document sector priorities, and synthetize these for integration into the Ontario CLRI program evaluation
  • Coordinate the Ontario CLRI Evaluation Working Group, building consensus for program evaluation related decision making.
  • Maintain the Ontario CLRI’s evaluation data collection tools and systems, including training Ontario CLRI team members on their program evaluation-related tasks.
  • Contribute to the Ontario CLRI Knowledge Mobilisation Working Group.
  • Support Ontario CLRI evaluation planning for team initiatives.

2. Communication and reporting 25%
 
  • Lead the drafting of the Ontario CLRI annual evaluation report that feeds into the Program’s Annual Report.
  • Under the guidance of the Ontario CLRI Evaluation Working Group and with the Ontario CLRI Communications Manager, contribute to the dissemination of program achievements in various formats, targeting key program audiences.

3. Other support 10%
 
  • Establish and maintain evaluation-related contacts in the long-term care sector
  • Actively participate in the Ontario CLRI team activities related to short and long-term program planning and in team-based learning opportunities
  • Represent the Ontario CLRI at events, on working groups and committees as appropriate.
  • Others duties as assigned.

 

Required Competencies:

  • University training in relevant fields, including healthcare disciplines 
  • Relevant experience in evaluation and program monitoring
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of project management relevant for the day-to-day management of program evaluation (planning and task completion) and to accomplish tasks as laid out in the program evaluation plan and the annual program evaluation cycle
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); statistical software knowledge would be an asset 
  • Highly motivated, detail oriented, analytical and organized individual with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines within a dynamic project environment
  • Self-directed and able to effectively work both independently and as part of a team 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-organizational setting and with multiple internal and external partners 
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and strong listening, facilitation, and debriefing skills with individuals and teams
  • Exceptional communication skills, including written and verbal (in English) with internal (Ontario CLRI team and Steering Committee) and external stakeholders

Desired competencies

  • Experience working and/or education and professional development in the LTC sector, retirement, senior’s care, geriatrics
  • Ability to communicate in French with internal and external partners
