New position - Registered Nurse (Minimum of 1 position) - Complex Continuing Care

Salary Scale:

$33.90 to $48.53 /hr plus a competitive benefits program

 *Position type: Permanent full-time shared between units, 75 hours/Pay period, 1.0 FTE
  • Rotation will consist of a combination of both normal daily tours (shifts) (7.5 hours) and extended tours (11.25 hours)
  • Weekends will consist of two extended Night tours (19:30–7:30)
  • Monday to Friday (including statutory holidays): Incumbent will be scheduled a Night rotation of normal daily tours (7.5 hours) which will vary and will be determined during the period of schedule production based on operational needs
  • Incumbent will be scheduled nine (9) tours per pay period totaling 75 hours

Function Summary 

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the role of the Registered Nurse (RN) at Bruyère Continuing Care is to deliver safe, effective, patient/resident-centered, ethical, and evidence-based nursing care. The overall function of the RN is to assist patients/residents and their families to manage clinical conditions and transitions and maximize their self-care, psychosocial, spiritual, communicative and interpretive abilities. The RN also acts as a resource for members of the care team.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Level C certificate
  • Assessment skills course
  • Fluent in French & English (Candidates who do not meet this language requirement are eligible to apply for this position and may be considered if there are no other suitable applicants who meet this requirement.)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in internal medicine, wound care, and / or rehabilitation
  • Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) trained
  • Gerontology certification and current physical assessment skills certification
  • Membership in Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO)
  • Current technical skills
  • Superior communication, organizational and interpersonal skill
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to work under pressure and to adapt to change
  • Motivation towards personal and professional growth
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a continuous quality improvement philosophy and its application
  • Proven leadership abilities, interpersonal, conflict resolution and team-building skills
  • Preceptorship workshop
