For this position, Bruyère is pleased to partner with the Ontario Health Community Commitment Program for Nurses initiative which offers a $10,000 incentive to eligible Nurses who have not worked as a nurse in Ontario in the past 6 months, in exchange for a 12-month commitment. Function summary

 

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the role of the Registered Nurse (RN) at Bruyère Continuing Care is to deliver safe, effective, patient/resident-centered, ethical, and evidence-based nursing care. The overall function of the RN is to assist patients/residents and their families to manage clinical conditions and transitions, and maximize their self-care, psychosocial, spiritual, communicative and interpretive abilities. The RN also acts as a resource for members of the care team.

The RN is committed to patient and resident safety, on-going learning and continuous quality improvement.
 

Required qualifications

  • Valid certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Level C certificate
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a continuous quality improvement philosophy and its application
  • Proven leadership abilities, excellent interpersonal, organizational and team-building skills
  • Capable of working under stress in a constantly changing environment
  • Current technical skills
  • Ventilator and tracheotomy trained by successful completion of ventilation and trach training
  • Fluent in French and English (Candidates who do not meet this language requirement are eligible to apply for this position and may be considered if there are no other suitable applicants who meet this requirement.)

Preferred qualifications
  • Gerontology certification and current physical assessment skills certification
  • Preceptorship workshop
  • Membership in Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO)
