Function SummaryReporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting: Be responsible for the accuracy of the three-way matching process by comparing the purchase order, invoice and goods receipts to ensure they match before processing the invoice for payment. Audit authorized invoices and accounting data for compliance with existing accounting controls. Enter accounts payable information into the accounting software ensuring all invoices are correctly encoded for tax purposes following both Provincial and Federal regulations and is responsible for allocating and distributing expenses to the correct accounts using spreadsheets and formulas. Work on related documents for the weekly/monthly payments preparation. Carry out all other related tasks and provide support for the Accounts Payable Service and the Finance Department. Commit to patient and resident safety, on-going learning and continuous quality improvement. Required Qualifications - College diploma (3 years) in business administration or other related field or equivalent combination of experience, education and training
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in accounts payable with increasing responsibilities using accounting software
- Experience in recording and processing financial transactions using a computer within deadlines and with close attention to accuracy and detail
- Experience working with computer programs and softwares including: Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets, formulas, tables), accounting software, accounts payable module, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Acrobat PDF reader
- Bookkeeping experience would be considered an asset
Key Competencies- Demonstrated ability to record and process financial transactions using a computer within deadlines and with close attention to accuracy and detail
- Technical knowledge of financial transactions and accounts payable processes
- Strong ability with mentally sorting, organizing or visualizing processes
- Effective oral/written communications skills in both official language, with courteous, efficient telephone/email manners (Candidates who do not meet this language requirement are eligible to apply for this position and may be considered if there are no other suitable applicants who meet this requirement.)
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to achieve common goals
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively without detailed verification of accuracy by manager
- Ability to work under stress
- Ability to manage a large volume of electronic documentation (approx. 10,000 documents per year)
- Ability to manage a large volume of emails
- Fluency in computer applications including: Microsoft Word, Excel (spreadsheets, formulas, tables), Outlook and Teams, Virtuo, Acrobate Pro PDF
- Ability to regularly manage time pressures and address external and internal inquiries with a service-based approach
- Strong interpersonal skills, problem resolution skills as well as organizational skills to effectively address multiple demands
- Critical thinking, initiative, problem solving and analytical acumen
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
