Function SummaryThe Clerk, Admissions and Patient Flow reports to the Manager, Admissions and Patient Flow. The incumbent is responsible for receiving and processing electronic patient referrals to Complex Continuing Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care. The incumbent also performs all inpatient Registration and Bedboard functions using an automated ADT computer system through Meditech EMR.
The incumbent is responsible for confirming waitlist information is accurate and up to date to support the coordination of admissions, discharges and transfers. Clerks work collaboratively with the Clinical Admissions Coordinators and other departments to ensure the overall bed management and admission process is well managed and coordinated. The incumbent also provides administrative support for the department as required.
Admissions Clerk is responsible for following the registration standards for each visit type and ensures accurate registration of patients with current, valid information for each visit.
The incumbent works closely with referring sources, physicians, staff and the general public to provide the highest level of service possible to our patients.

Required Qualifications- Two (2) years community College diploma in a related field, or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience
- Two (2) years clerical experience in a hospital setting
- Knowledge of admission and registration process
- Previous experience using Meditech, or other electronic medical records preferred
- Intermediate computer skills (Office 365 and Adobe)
- Intermediate knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of hospital programs and corporate services
- Patience, flexibility and ability to work in a demanding fast past environment
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Fluent in French and English (Candidates who do not meet this language requirement are eligible to apply for this position and may be considered if there are no other suitable applicants who meet this requirement.)
Key Competencies- High level of data entry skills (efficient and accurate) for patient registration
- Experience extracting patient information from systems such as EPIC, Meditech, Connecting Ontario Clinical Viewer, SMART
- High degree of initiative, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work with multiple team members who may have competing priorities and work requests
- Ability to cope effectively with multiple demands and stressful work environment and work well with frequent interruptions
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize to meet changing workload demands in a timely fashion
- Strong attention to detail and ability to self-monitor for data entry errors in systems such as Meditech and Point Click Care
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Candidates must be available to work shift: days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
