PRIME LOCATIONS, ACADEMIC PRACTICE ENVIRONMENTThe Department of Care of the Elderly (CoE) at Bruyère is looking to fill LOCUM positions on the inpatient Geriatric Rehabilitation Service beginning in either June or July 2018. These are ideal positions for practicing family physicians or graduating residents looking for a new challenge and stable income, and have the possibility of being combined with part-time outpatient work. The ideal candidates must have an interest in caring for frail seniors, be comfortable with inpatient medicine, and work well in a team environment. Support and mentorship will be provided, and opportunities to participate in teaching clinical clerks and Family Medicine residents will be available. The Geriatric Rehabilitation Service is a 50-bed interprofessional inpatient program for frail community-dwelling elderly patients with almost 650 admissions each year. These patients have recently suffered an acute medical or surgical issue leading to function and mobility difficulties threatening their ability to return or remain at home. A part of the Department of Care of the Elderly, it is the home of a core PGY-1 rotation for Family Medicine residents training at the Bruyère and Primrose sites, and is staffed by a friendly and engaged group of family physicians, most of whom have a CAC in Care of the Elderly.
