Reporting to the Vice-President, Human Resources and Organizational Development, the Director is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling operational and strategic recruitment and selection, human resources programs (including staff recognition, employee feedback surveys, balanced scorecards, human resource measurement, data and analytics), payroll (approx. $95 million), and related benefit and compensation programs. The incumbent assumes responsibility for leading the development, implementation and ongoing review of the various recruitment and human resources and payroll and benefits programs and upgrading of the Human Resources Information System to meet the needs of the organization. He/She works in close collaboration with the Finance Department to ensure interoperability and compatibility with financial, enterprise-wide and provincial systems and compliance with financial reporting obligations. The Director also provides advice to the Vice-President on any related issues. The Director is responsible and accountable for overseeing and coordinating all related activities for the various union and non-union employee groups including administration of salary plans, benefits, leaves, group insurance plans, pension plans, employee and related file management and generation and analyses of related data and reports. He/She is committed to patient and resident safety, on-going learning and continuous quality improvement. Qualifications - Bachelor degree in a human resources or relevant field, Canadian Payroll Association Certification and Certified Human Resources Professional designation or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Five (5) years’ experience in the administration and oversight of human resources related functions including recruitment, payroll, benefit plans, compensation and documentation in a unionized environment.
- Progressive management and leadership experience preferably in a health care setting
- Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation pertaining to all position functions
- Knowledge of systems: payroll, human resources, accounting
- Knowledge of human resources programs and recruitment, preferably in health care
- Knowledge of software e.g.: Excel, Crystal, Power Point, Word, etc.
- Experience in the Ontario Health Care sector strongly preferred
- Bilingualism preferred
