Function Summary 

 

Reporting to the Director of Quality, Patient Safety, and Risk Management, the Coordinator, Corporate Policies and Procedures is Bruyère’s policy expert, responsible for the development, writing, revision, and coordination of all corporate policies and procedures, including Clinical, Infection Prevention and Control, Administrative, Occupational Health and Safety, Village, and Governance.

This includes:
  • identifying areas where our policies are deficient or require review, and initiating the process of policy development and revision;
  • responding to requests for assistance from Senior Leadership and middle managers in the development of new policies, and in the revision of existing ones;
  • preparing the content of every policy, with special focus on clinical policies and on other policies that affect patient care and safety for all;
  • ensuring that all corporate policies are reviewed every 4 years and more often as necessary; 
  • facilitating input by staff and physicians at all levels, including senior and middle managers;
  • designing and improving the corporate system for policy development, review, approval, and dissemination;
  • ensuring that all corporate policies adhere to provincial legislation and professional standards;
  • providing ongoing consultation and advice to Senior Leadership, managers, and physicians on matters relating to policy;
  • communicating information to all staff and physicians regarding new and revised corporate policies;
  • supporting quality improvement and 2019 accreditation.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in health or public administration, or in a clinical health discipline, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience; 
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience or more in health administration, and ideally clinical experience;  
  • Fluent in French and English;
  • Advanced computer skills and medical terminology.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the health care system (provincially and locally), of the strategic plans, goals, and detailed workings of Bruyère, and of the functions and responsibilities of each of the disciplines and departments in the organization;
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing needs; 
  • Meticulous attention to detail;
