Function Summary

 

The Registered Nurse provides a high level of patient care for all age groups as part of a team of health professionals including triage, patient follow up, and developing an ongoing awareness of the various programs and services available in the clinic and in the community. He/She acts as a health resource to the community members by providing general nursing care, assisting in minor surgical procedures, and is responsible for co-ordination of patients' care with other health care professionals and outside resources. He/She shows leadership, teamwork abilities and the ability to relate well to peers, patients, other health professionals and managers. He/She participates in the development and implementation of research projects and programs, and participates in the teaching of nursing and allied health students, medical residents and medical students; the education of patients, and his/her own professional development.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Valid Basic Life Support ( BLS) cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Level C certificate
  • Experience working with infants, children, adults, elderly, ante-natal care, post natal care, and neonatal care in a primary care or community setting
  • Teaching experience
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Intermediate computer skills, including in electronic health records
  • Ability to develop, implement, evaluate, and modify a plan of care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Related specialty certification (e.g. CNA certification)
  • Membership in relevant professional associations (e.g. RNAO, CGNA, OARN, etc)
  • Preceptorship, research and quality improvement experience
  • Knowledge of another language, an asset
  • Superior communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team
  • Leadership, decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to adapt to change
  • Motivation towards personal and professional growth
