Function SummaryReporting to the Facility Manager or his delegate, the incumbent maintains and repairs architectural systems, furnishings and storage systems using hand and power tools. The Carpenter installs medical equipment in clinics and patients rooms. He/she works with blueprints and technical drawings. The incumbent may be required to work on both sites (Saint-Vincent Hospital and Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital). He/She is committed to living the Mission and Values of Bruyère Continuing Care. He/She is committed to patient and resident safety, on-going learning and continuous quality improvement. Required Qualifications- Recognized & valid competency certificate in general carpentry from Ontario or Quebec
- Trade or vocational school graduate with courses in carpentry, woodworking, locksmithing, blueprint, reading mechanical drawing and mathematics
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in General Carpentry
- Ability to offer tactful, courteous client-centered service to a varied clientele (patients, families, employees, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications- Fluent in French and English
- Experience in a hospital setting or similar environment
- Experience in installing and repairing door hardware
- Millwork experience
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Good organization and interpersonal skills
- Ability to constantly stand/move or expend considerable heavy physical effort
- Numerical ability to perform arithmetic operations
- Ability to understand forms and form perceptions
- Good coordination, manual dexterity and good physical abilities
