In an effort to sustain COVID-19 initiatives across the organization, we are currently recruiting 4th year Nursing Students as Clinical Student Intern.
 
We are looking for highly energetic students with initiative and drive, who look for an opportunity to gain valuable experience and develop their competencies through challenging assignments while working as part of a great team. You will be contributing to fulfilling our Mission which is committed to improving the quality of life of our patients and residents by living our values of respect, compassion, collaboration, accountability and learning.

Function Summary


Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN), the incumbent is responsible to provide basic nursing care. As a member of the patient care team, the incumbent is responsible to work with patients, their families, and the interprofessional team in delivering quality care in accordance with the mission and values of the organization, as well as the values of the nursing profession.

The incumbent is committed to patient and resident safety, ongoing learning and continuous quality improvement.

The Clinical Student Intern will:

  • Practice under the direction of an RN or RPN, in accordance with the practice standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario relating to the provision of care by an unregulated care provider.
  • Participate in patient care as a member of the interprofessional team.
  • Assist patients with basic personal hygiene and other activities of daily living based on pre-established plan of care
  • Works in collaboration with the Practice Support Nurse, Advanced Practice Nurse/Nursing Education Specialist and the clinical manager to set and achieve learning objectives and build skills in working as a health professional.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Enrollment in 4th year of a nursing program approved by the Ontario Ministry of Universities and Colleges

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent in French and English
  • Knowledge of hygiene and cleanliness and infection control standards
  • Ability to provide patient-centred care in a hospital setting
  • CPR Level C
  • Good teamwork and interpersonal skills
