John Riddle, Past Chair
Mr. Riddle is the past chair of the Bruyère board of directors and a member of the Executive Committee and the Governance and Nominating Committee.
John Riddle retired in 2004 after more than 30 years working in the public and private sectors. His career included executive positions with Statistics Canada, the Canadian Gas Association, the Canadian Centre for Management Development, the Treasury Board Secretariat, Public Works and Government Services Canada and finally as chief information officer for Health Canada. These positions involved both government-wide policy and large operational responsibilities with a recurring theme being the strategic use of information technology.
Mr. Riddle has a degree in political science and a master’s degree in English literature following university studies in Canada and England. He is also a graduate of the Queen’s University Executive Program.
Mr. Riddle has written and spoken both nationally and internationally on the challenges facing public service managers and opportunities to serve citizens with information technology. His community activities have included membership in Project 4000, the Ottawa Board of Trade, Options Bytown and as a board member and vice-chair at St. Patrick’s Home of Ottawa.
