Leadership Legacy

Bruyère values its employees and builds upon their strength to help develop the leaders of tomorrow. The Leadership Legacy Plan offers an action plan to identify employees with a career objective of higher management and/or specialization and provides the learning opportunities to achieve these professional goals. Thus, ensuring Bruyère has its own leadership capacity to fulfil its strategic objectives and respond to future challenges.

Leadership Training Program

This 7-day program will provide current and emerging leaders with the knowledge and skills to clearly communicate, support performance, build teams and lead projects, change and transition. If you are interested in pursuing ongoing development of your leadership skills this program is for you.


Improving your Management Skills

This program is designed for newly appointed managers, supervisors or directors. It is a 4 to 6 day learning series covering self-assessment, communication, coaching, time management and change management. Those taking this course will also learn how to create a team climate and manage employee performance.


Quality Improvement

Health Quality Facilitation Training

A 2-day Improvement Facilitation (IF) Training, followed by a 1-day Kaizen event for front line employees and Management. Health Quality Ontario's (HQO) aim is to build capacity and expertise in quality improvement (QI) and to equip teams to disseminate that expertise to improve patient/resident care and facilitate system integration.


Lean Training

In this course. participants will learn about the Lean Principles. It will demonstrate how these principles “see” that ”'waste” and how to eliminate them it the right way. Participants will learn that Lean is not a tool but a shift in thinking. This new way of thinking is supported by using proper tools, such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Visual Control, Flow and Pull. Participants will also take part in simulations and hands-on exercises to apply and visualize the theory and concepts. Our current provider in LEAN Training is Algonquin College.



Coaching for Self

Coaching leaders is an integral part of Bruyère’s Leadership Legacy Plan. The benefits of coaching are now well recognized in organizations worldwide. In Canada, entire provincial health care authorities are embracing a coaching philosophy and developing their leaders to be effective coaches. They are experiencing positive outcomes including increased engagement, team building and increased ability to manage change. Their cultures are being transformed by coaching.


5/5/5 Coaching Skills Training Program™

This highly interactive program is designed for those participants whose time is precious. It is a first step in providing participants with the technology and concept of coaching as a competency. During the workshop, participants will be introduced to the 5/5/5 framework for successful coaching. They will discover powerful coaching techniques that will enhance and grow communication and leadership skills.


Advanced Development

There are also a variety of stretch assignments, special projects, internal and external secondment opportunities available to leaders within Bruyère as well as a number of programs for current leaders interested in advancing to the Director or Vice-President level.
