About:

Douglas Archibald, PhD, is the current Director of Research and Innovation and an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine with cross-appointments to the Department of Innovation in Medical Education and the Faculty of Education. In addition to serving as the NAPCRG annual meeting program committee Chair, which is the foremost global research conference in primary care, Archibald is a section editor for the Journal of Continuing Professional Development in the Health Professions and an associate editor for the Canadian Medical Education Journal.


Archibald’s program of research is in programme evaluation and educational technology. He is the lead for the Department of Family Medicine's Program for Research Innovation and Medical Education (PRIME) and works to support research development, evaluation of research projects designed to enhance undergraduate and postgraduate medical education as well as faculty development.


Archibald currently supervises or co-supervises six PhD students through the Health Professions Education stream in the Faculty of Education. Their research spans from curricular development to electronic healthcare education.


Research Interests:

Programme evaluation, educational technology, survey research, interprofessional education, education data linkages, adult learning.
