About:

Dr. Krista Whitney is a specialist in Geriatric Medicine at the Bruyère Memory Program at Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario.


After finishing her undergraduate degree in Health Sciences then Master of Science in Occupational Therapy at Western University, she pursued her medical degree at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. After this, she completed her residency in Internal Medicine, followed by residency in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Ottawa. She is a member of the AGE-WELL National Innovation Hub in Sensors and Analytics for Monitoring Mobility and Memory.


Dr. Whitney’s clinical practice is focused on the care of older adults, specifically on the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive disorders such as dementia. Her primary research interests are around dementia care, aging in place, and technology. She also has research interests in interprofessional education and functional assessments.


Dr. Whitney’s current research focuses on how to help older adults remain living in their place of choice for as long as possible and how the use of technology may enhance independence. She also studies the use of functional assessments with the goal to improve accurate diagnosis of cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease.
