Blossoms for Bruyère marks a new chapter in dementia care and healthy aging

05/15/2026

On May 7 at Restaurant E18hteen, the Bruyère Health Foundation welcomed community partners and donors at Blossoms for Bruyère.

The evening highlighted key achievements and continued momentum, including the Foundation’s Living Well, Aging Boldly campaign, launched in January 2026 and co-chaired by Rob Moffatt, Steve Moffatt, and Jeff Moffatt. This ambitious initiative aims to raise $25 million in the next five years to advance specialized care for older adults and people with complex medical needs.

The event also celebrated a major milestone in dementia care. Following Health Canada’s approval of lecanemab, the first anti-amyloid therapy for Alzheimer’s disease, Bruyère Health was the first hospital in Ottawa and the region to provide access to these new treatments, through its Memory Clinic.

This achievement underscores Bruyère Health’s leadership as an academic health sciences centre and marks the first initiative under the Leading Edge Specialized Care pillar of the organization’s Dementia Strategy, launched with the support of the Bruyère Health Foundation.

This is just the start, with further work underway to sustain leadership in dementia care, research, and system innovation.

“By 2040, more than 3.1 million Ontarians will be living with major illness. That is why we are stepping forward, with strong leadership, innovation, and a bold vision to help people live well and age boldly,” said Guy Chartrand, Bruyère Health President and CEO. “We believe aging should be full of possibility, and that dignity must always come first.”

We are deeply grateful to our community and the many donors whose continued support makes advancements in care, research, and innovation possible.

A special thank you to our event sponsors, including Daniel Fernandes Law Office, Norton Rose Fulbright, and Eighteen Hospitality Group, whose generosity helped bring Blossoms for Bruyère to life.
