As 2023 comes to an end, I want to thank our community of donors for your generous support of Bruyère. We are fortunate to have a loyal group of donors, many of whom have supported Bruyère for decades – making life better for our patients, residents, and staff.
The Foundation’s volunteer board of directors and professional staff is responsible for securing donations from the community to enhance patient and resident care across Bruyère’s four campuses: Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital and Residence in the Byward Market area; Saint-Vincent Hospital in Centretown; Saint-Louis Residence and Bruyère Village in Orleans, and Greystone Transitional Care Unit in Ottawa East.
In 2022-23, the Foundation contributed $2.54 million in total to Bruyère on behalf of our community of donors.
The most significant investment was in the construction of the new William and Maureen Shenkman Palliative Care Unit at Bruyère’s Saint-Vincent campus, which opened in June of this year. The Foundation announced in December that thanks to the significant support from the community, the goal for the construction of the new unit had been reached.
This campaign enabled the successful move of Bruyère’s palliative care program from the Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital campus in the By-Ward Market to the Saint-Vincent Hospital campus in Centretown.
In addition to this project, another $1 million was invested in the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment to provide Bruyère’s outstanding staff with the tools they require to provide the best possible care to their patients.
