Bruyère Health Appoints Dr. Shawn Marshall as Chief of Staff
04/17/2025
Bruyère Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Shawn Marshall as the new Chief of Staff. Dr. Marshall has a recognized clinical and research career, and his experience will contribute to Bruyère Health’s continued leadership in the areas of aging, rehabilitation and complex care.
Dr. Marshall is currently the Department Head of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Bruyère Health and serves as a full Professor and Division Head at the University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital. His clinical practice focuses on acquired brain injury rehabilitation, managing both in-patient and out-patient care.
In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. Marshall is a nationally recognized researcher. He is the principal investigator for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Team for Older Driver Research and the Candrive Prospective Older Driver study, which developed the Candrive Older Driver Risk Stratification Tool. As first of its kind, this tool provides an objective benchmark for collision risk, helping clinicians assessing aging Canadians' ability to keep driving.
Dr. Marshall also played a pivotal role in establishing the Ontario Workers Network (OWN) at The Ottawa Hospital. OWN is a provincial network that provides coordinated care for injured workers, aiming to deliver treatment closer to home.
Dr. Marshall will step into this role officially on July 21, following the retirement of Dr. Shaun McGuire who has been Bruyère Health’s Chief of Staff over the last 12 years.
Congratulations Dr. Marshall. We look forward to the many new contributions you will make in this new role both at Bruyère Health for those we care for and their loved ones and in the broader healthcare community.
