Dr. Shawn Marshall

Joining Bruyère in 1997, Dr. Shawn Marshall is a Physiatrist and Full Professor at the University of Ottawa with a Master’s in Epidemiology and over 200 peer-reviewed publications. A national leader in brain injury rehabilitation, he has guided the development of concussion and traumatic brain injury guidelines, created the Living Concussion Guidelines for health professionals, and led the Candrive research team to develop a risk stratification tool for older drivers. His past leadership roles include Head of PM&R at Bruyère Health, Division Head of PM&R at The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa, and Regional Chair of the Rehabilitation Advisory Committee. Recognized provincially for excellence in brain injury care, he also established a hospitalist program that has been adopted across Ottawa. Grounded in respect, collaboration, and accountability, Shawn brings deep clinical, research, and administrative expertise to advancing rehabilitation and subacute care. Outside of work, he values family and enjoys running, cycling, hiking, triathlons, and cross-country skiing.
