Function summary

 

Reporting to the Manager, Patient Food Services, the supervisor is responsible for the supervision of personnel as well as the quality and operation of food production and distribution services and dishwashing activities. This includes coordinating inventory verification; preparing orders and supervising storage; ensuring the quality and proper use of produce by applying appropriate work methods for production and distribution of meals and nourishments; participating in the development of cyclical menus and recipes; participating in reviewing work routines of supervised staff; evaluate the performance of the employees and determine development needs; application of preventive work habits, for occupational health and safety as well as for correcting potentially dangerous situations and requested to plan and coordinate preparation of catering events.

Required qualifications

  • Diploma in Food and Nutrition Management
  • 1 year minimum of experience required

Preferred qualifications

  • Membership in CSNM (Canadian Society of Nutrition Management) – National association
  • Knowledge of Sanitation Code
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Good communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Good coaching skills
  • Experience in a unionized environment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Fluent in English and French (Candidates who do not meet this language requirement are eligible to apply for this position and may be considered if there are no other suitable applicants who meet this requirement.)
