Function Summary

 

To provide administrative and clerical support to the patient care unit, by acting as resource person for patients, families, interdisciplinary team and external consultants and collaborators and thereby facilitating/promoting an environment of continuous quality patient-centered care.

This position reports to the designated manager within the specific unit/program.

Required Qualifications

  • Secondary school diploma, or equivalent
  • Ward clerk or Medical terminology course or recent training as Ward Clerk, Unit Clerk, Administrative Control Clerk (ACC) or Unit Administrative Clerk from other hospital
  • Demonstrated ability to process and transcribe physician’s orders and understand medical terminology (Candidate must successfully pass written test as part of the interview and selection process)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (face to face and telephone)
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as word processing, electronic mail, spreadsheets etc.

  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with the public
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to actively and effectively collaborate and communicate with physicians, the members of the interprofessional team, unregulated and support staff
  • Flexibility, aptitude, ability and innovation in practice to work within continuously changing environment
  • Sensitivity to the needs and capabilities of Bruyère patient population
  • Fluent in French and English
