Bus Driver

Function Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Day Program and Operations, Bruyère Village, the incumbent is responsible for transporting community participants and Bruyère Village tenants to excursions, medical appointments, and programming days at Saint Louis Residence amongst other errands as required. The incumbent must occasionally and as needed be available for additional excursions on weekends and evenings. The incumbent may be called upon to attend day program activities/leisure and occasionally the Village to assist participants.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of grade 10 secondary school
  • Valid driver's license, class F (Ontario) or class AB (Quebec) or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience driving a bus with 14 or more passengers
  • Experience working with the elderly and/or people with physical disabilities
  • Knowledge of Ministry of Transport regulations
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Level A or C certificate
  • Ability to perform activities requiring standing for long periods, pulling, pushing, squatting, lifting on a regular basis using safe work practices
  • Fluent in French and English

Other conditions of employment

The following documents are required by successful candidates during the onboarding process for the purpose of insurance registration:
  • Satisfactory and recent driver’s abstract (3-year driver record) without any infractions, convictions or demerit point
  • Letter of experience showing previous insurance experience driving similar type vehicle
  • Driver’s personal automobile insurance information
