Occupational Health Nurse

Function Summary

Under the direction and leadership of the OHSS Director, the Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) functions as an active member of the OHSS team to provide comprehensive occupational health services to all Bruyère Continuing Care and Résidence Saint-Louis employees.
 

The services include:

  • Work-related accidents/illness follow up as well as management of the work re-integration program
  • Non-occupational accidents/illness follow up as well as management of the transitional work program
  • Management of accommodations requests as well as return to work plans development and follow up
  • Health care screening, basic first aid and follow up as required. 
  • Communicable disease surveillance and exposure management
  • Immunization program 
  • Initial Health Assessments, wellness promotion
  • Counseling and referral services.

Required Qualifications

  • Certification of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Diploma or actively enrolled in Occupational Health or Certification in Occupational Health Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA)
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing (preferred)
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in an occupational health setting environment
  • Fluent in French and English (Candidates who do not meet this language requirement are eligible to apply for this position and may be considered if there are no other suitable applicants who meet this requirement.)
  • Advanced medical terminology
  • Basic computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Suite)
