Position Descriptions

 
Dietitian
The Dietitian is responsible for all aspects of occupational therapy treatment and care of patients.
 
Required Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor of Science, degree with major in food and nutrition from a recognized university, internship completed in Dietetic (either integrated or as a separate year after university graduation)
  • Member, College of Dietitians of Ontario
  • Member, Dietitians of Canada
  • Working experience in clinical nutrition with all age groups and with chronic diseases is an asset
  • Personal Liability Insurance Coverage (as set out by College of Dietitians of Ontario)
  • Advanced medical terminology
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Fluent in French and English is required for some positions
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Flexibility, adaptability and innovation in practice in a continuously changing environment.
  • Knowledgeable and competent in addressing the continuous quality improvement process.
  • Current clinical knowledge applicable to practice setting.
  • Ability to work autonomously and able to actively and effectively collaborate as a member of the interprofessional team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to mentor students
  • Fluent in French and English is preferred for some positions
          Occupational Therapist
          The Occupation Therapist is responsible for all aspects of occupational therapy treatment and care of patients
           
          Required Qualifications:
          • Practicing member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapist of Ontario
          • Valid professional liability insurance
          • Fluent in French and English is required for some positions
          Preferred Qualifications:
          • Experience in Complex Continuing Care and in Rehabilitation
          • Knowledge and experience in seating and mobility
          • Functional Independance Measure (FIM)
          • Ability to work independently and with members of an interdisciplinary team
          • Experience in Complex Continuing Care and Rehabilitation
          • Fluent in French and English is preferred for some positions
          Physiotherapist
          The Physiotherapist is responsible for all aspects of physiotherapy treatment and care of patients.
           
          Required Qualifications:
          • Graduate of an educational program approved by the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
          • Practicing member of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
          • Fluent in French and English is required for some positions
          Preferred Qualifications:
          • Minimum of three years of clinical experience and current clinical knowledge pertinent to the position
          • Demonstrated interest in continuing education
          • Ability to work independently and with members of an interdisciplinary team
          • Experience in Complex Continuing Care and Rehabilitation
          • Fluent in French and English is preferred for some positions
           
          Social Worker
          The Social Worker is responsible for all aspects of social work intervention towards patients and families.
           
          Required Qualifications:
          • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited university
          • Membership in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
          • Ability to work independently and collaborate with members of an interprofessional team
          • Fluent in French and English is required for some positions
          Preferred Qualifications:
          • Knowledge of community resources
          • Experience in one of Bruyère Continuing Care's programs
          • Experience in a hospital setting
          • Experience with discharge planning
          • Experience in supervising students
          • Fluent in French and English is preferred for some positions
          Speech Language Pathologist 
          The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders of patients. 
           
          Required Qualifications: 
          • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent as recognized by the College
          • Member of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario
          • Fluent in French and English is required for some positions
          Preferred Qualifications:
          • Experience with assessment, interventions and treatment plans for persons with dysphagia and neurogenic communication disorder
          • Knowledge and experience with Augmentative/Alternative Communication (AAC)
          • Ability to work independently and with members of an interdisciplinary team
          • Fluent in French and English is preferred for some positions
