About:

Alison Riddle, PhD, is a global health researcher with 25 years of experience advancing gender equality and health equity through evidence-informed policy, programming, and evaluation. She specializes in gender-transformative and feminist approaches in global health, focusing on nutrition, immunization, and strengthening health systems. Her work integrates participatory and mixed-methods research to examine and address the structural and normative drivers of health inequalities, particularly those affecting women, girls, and marginalized populations.

Riddle leads and collaborates on research and evaluation projects with UN agencies, governments, and NGOs, generating actionable evidence to support the design, implementation, and scale-up of gender-responsive and transformative policies and programs. She is the principal investigator on multi-country case studies and organizational assessments, applying systems-based thinking and implementation science to help organizations strengthen their capacity to deliver equitable health outcomes. She is also a key contributor to the development of tools and frameworks that guide organizations in embedding gender equity into their internal structures and external programming.

Riddle is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ottawa where she mentors emerging scholars and contributes to academic and applied research initiatives. She teaches regularly at McGill University’s Summer Institutes in Global Health, where she directs a course on gender and global health, fostering interdisciplinary learning and critical engagement with feminist and intersectional approaches.

Riddle’s work is grounded in a commitment to social justice and the belief that inclusive, evidence-based solutions are essential for transforming global health systems. Her research contributes to the growing body of knowledge that informs more equitable, responsive, and effective global health policies and programs.
