Best Practice Spotlight Organization
Saint-Louis Residence is a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO). We are the first long-term care home in the Champlain region and the first francophone home in the province to successfully win this opportunity. Our journey started in 2016.
This designation is a sign of our commitment to provide care that is always based on best available knowledge. The residence also benefits from significant training funds from the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO).
The RNAO develops Best Practice Guidelines that help improve the quality of care. Health organizations around the world use these guidelines.
We also share our experiences with Bruyère Continuing Care's other long-term care home, Élisabeth Bruyère Residence.
We implemented four best practice guidelines at Saint-Louis Residence. We aim to have fewer falls, help residents have better oral health, remain or even become continent and have fewer pressure ulcers. We are continuing our work related to enhancing how we provide care while being person and family-centred.
In 2021, we have started to work on another best practice guideline (BPG): A Palliative Approach to Care in the Last 12 Months of Life. This BPG is particularly timely during the pandemic.
The guidelines and our partnership with the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario helps advance our commitment to excellence in care.
