Director of Care - Assisted Living Service

$83.382 to $102,551 annually, plus a competitive benefits program

Function summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, Bruyère Village, the incumbent is responsible for the overall direction and supervision of care staff of the Assisted Living Services (ALS) and Enhanced Assisted Living Services (EALS) programs as well as the delivery of care provided to the tenants. The incumbent is also responsible to oversee the day to day operations of ALS and EALS services such as the food within the clusters, the cleanliness of the apartments and the overall satisfaction levels of the client services within the programs. He/She is also responsible for the timely submission of all statistical reporting related to both programs. He/she is accountable for proper management of the budgets associated to ALS and EALS. The incumbent also works in alignment with Bruyère Continuing Care policies and applicable collective agreements and recognized industry practices while ensuring optimal quality of care at Bruyère Village

Required qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree (4 years) in a related field from an accredited university 
  • RPN, RN or Master’s degree in health management or public sector management or business administration (preferred but not required)
  • Canadian/Professional Certification, ex. RPN, RN, RNAO (preferred but not required)
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a retirement home, seniors home setting or health care facility 
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive management/leadership experience
  • Experience in supervising or directing registered and unregulated staff
  • Good knowledge of management principles and approaches
  • Good knowledge of data measurement, collection, basic analysis and reporting
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology
