The Ontario Centres for Learning, Research and Innovation in Long-Term Care (CLRI) build capacity through innovation and collaboration in education, research, and knowledge mobilization. The Program’s goal is to support long-term care homes to improve the quality of life and care for residents through building capacity and promoting innovative best practices. The Ontario CLRI works with stakeholders to support research, develop innovative education, and share resources with LTC homes. We engage with people invested in the LTC sector.

The Ontario CLRI is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and is hosted by Baycrest Health Sciences, Bruyère, and Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging.

The Knowledge Broker /Project Coordinator (eLearning) will be responsible for developing, implementing and supporting eLearning activities at the Bruyère CLRI in collaboration with stakeholders and external partners. They will facilitate a blended approach to workplace education which is learner-centered and meets the needs of stakeholders in long-term care.

The Bruyère CLRI Knowledge Broker /Project Coordinator (eLearning) is responsible for the oversite of day-to-day project/program operations and development of projects in collaboration with the CLRI manager and their team. These responsibilities include substantial independent communication and coordination with a variety of project partners including long-term care homes, content experts, eLearning designers and other technical contributors, carrying out project work independently, providing oversight of other staff and the entire financial process (budgeting, forecasting, etc.), synthetizing and disseminating information to different audiences. The Knowledge Broker /Project Coordinator (eLearning) must exercise judgment, based upon thorough knowledge of procedures, guidelines and regulations.


Main duties and responsibilities:

Project Planning and Management - 40%

  • Work with the CLRI team to ensure a timely drafting and submission of publications
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of research projects with minimal supervision
  • Coordinate logistics for projects, including plans for data collection and analysis, facilitate meetings, establish project schedules, timelines, and resources
  • Detailed planning, execution and monitoring of programmatic issues including: schedules, progress, coordination, deliverables, milestones and contracts

Knowledge Mobilization and Coordination Support - 40 %

  • Work with the CLRI team at Bruyère to ensure a timely drafting and submission of publications, presentations and grants
  • Coordinate with other Ontario CLRI teams at Baycrest and UW-Schlegel RIA and contribute expertise to joint planning and activities broadly related to eLearning
  • Provide support on the development and implementation of knowledge translation and transfer
  • Correspond with external stakeholders and investigators

Financial Planning and Tacking - 10 %

  • Create and justify project budgets 
  • Track and reconcile expenses against budget and projections of future expenses
  • Establish financial projections
  • Draft service contracts and requisitions

Human Resources - 10 %

  • Participate in recruitment of staff and students as required
  • Provide leadership, supervision and support to students

Required Competencies

Undergraduate degree in relevant field such as: Communications, Adult Education or Learning Technologies or the equivalent combination of education and related practical experience in training/instructional design/eLearning.

  • Experience of curriculum design and eLearning packages in an adult learning environment, from needs assessment through to evaluation, using adult learning and eLearning principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce quality documentation and develop and design training materials for online courses, sessions, programs in accordance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards.
  • Demonstrated experience with Learning Management Systems, virtual classrooms, multimedia applications, digital media design, web design technologies, web page layout, desktop publishing, graphics, web page creation and web platform development software.

  • 3 years’ relevant project coordination experience including areas such as budget development, sound knowledge of research principles, knowledge exchange, and knowledge of granting agency requirements
  • Exceptional communication skills, including written and verbal (in English) 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment and with multiple internal and external partners
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage overlapping project phases and meet deadlines
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, including the ability to adapt to a dynamic project environment 

Desirables Competencies

  • Ability to communicate in French with internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional design with experience in designing, developing and evaluating eLearning curriculum, learning activities, resources, strategies, plans and processes using various learning delivery models including online, blended, hybrid and classroom formats. 
  • Experience working and/or education in the Long-Term Care environment.
