About:

Jennifer Howcroft is a Lecturer in the Department of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Her research encompasses technical and pedagogical areas. Her technical research is focused on naturalistic driving assessment and sensor-based human movement analysis in older adults with particular focus on driving fitness assessment and fall risk assessment, respectively. Her technical expertise includes big data analytics, wearable sensors, and artificial intelligence techniques.


Her pedagogical research focuses on engineering education, in particular engineering design, holistic engineering education, and empathy.


Research Interests:

Driving fitness assessments, gait analysis and wearable sensors, clinical and rehabilitation engineering, pedagogical research.
