Resident and family handbook

Welcome to Bruyère Continuing Care

On behalf of the Bruyère team, welcome to our long-term care home. We are committed to providing you with care that is resident-focused, respectful, compassionate, safe and efficient.

This handbook will help answer your questions regarding care and services in our two long-term care homes, and will provide you with checklists to help ease your move and transition. Additional information is contained within your welcome package, including your Resident Contract (that consists of two parts: Accommodation Agreement and Purchase of Services Agreement), a list of our key staff members, their contact information and a sample activities calendar. Most of the information we present in this guide is applicable to both residences. When service details differ, we clearly mark the relevant elements for each residence.

Bruyère is affiliated with the University of Ottawa and other universities and colleges. These relationships have been further solidified through our expansion in applied research at the Bruyère Research Institute.

We are always eager to improve and are open to any comments or suggestions you wish to share about your experience within our homes.

Our interdisciplinary care teams work closely together to ensure your comfort and safety throughout your care journey. We hope our paths will cross and we look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,

Melissa Donskov
