External medical appointments

To ensure your safety, we must always know your whereabouts. When leaving the unit alone or accompanied by a staff member, volunteer, or visitor, please use the “sign-out, sign-in book” located at the nursing station.

Any off-site special needs should be discussed with a member of the interdisciplinary care team on the unit who will assist you in making the necessary arrangements. Contact us immediately if you are admitted to another health care facility during a leave of absence.

Staff will make the necessary arrangements for your outside medical and dental appointments. If required, family, friends or a volunteer may accompany you.
