Dear Friend,
I am writing to you in my role as the volunteer Chair of the Bruyère Foundation. Our Foundation is the fundraising arm of Bruyère Continuing Care, which includes four campuses: Elisabeth Bruyère Hospital in the Byward Market area; Saint-Vincent Hospital in Centretown; Saint-Louis Residence and Bruyère Village in Orleans, and now Greystone Village in Ottawa East.
Describing who and what Bruyère Continuing Care is to our community continues to be an important part of our role, as the organization has grown considerably in terms of its size and breadth of programming.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my volunteer role, is thanking those who have joined in supporting Bruyère and ensuring that your donations achieve the desired impact – a better quality of life for our patients and residents.
Recently our society’s collective conscience has been reminded of the urgent responsibility we have to care for our elderly, frail and vulnerable citizens – our family, friends neighbours and strangers.
My fellow volunteer board members and I give our time and money to Bruyère because we recognize the importance of this organization to the overall health and wellbeing of our aging population.
Our Foundress, Elisabeth Bruyère, recognized this need when Ottawa was just a small, young city. She stepped in and cared for those most in need. The staff, physicians, and volunteers at Bruyère are proud to continue to uphold this mission every day. The Bruyère team is following in Elisabeth Bruyère’s footsteps with a profound sense of purpose and a deep well of compassion.
I know you have contributed to Bruyère in the past and I want to thank you for your generosity and support.

Your collective support has a tremendous impact on the level of care we continue to provide, but it also has a special impact on our staff in terms of their morale. As a witness of the compassion our staff provide on a daily basis, I can say with great emphasis, they have earned our support.
One thing is clearer to me now, than at any other point in my life…as a community we must look after one another. This is especially true of our elderly, frail and most vulnerable citizens.
Should you choose to make a gift at this time it will be used to fund our top three priorities: the acquisition of new equipment, innovative research, and our latest project - the integration of our palliative and complex care programs and principles.
On behalf of my fellow volunteers on the Bruyère Foundation, as well as the patients, residents, families, and staff who continue to benefit from your generosity, thank you for your consideration. I look forward to reporting back to you in the new year on the impact of your support.
