Therapeutic Recreation

Bruyère's Therapeutic Support Services work together to assess patient/resident needs and provide a range of services and activities that considers the person as a whole. Our aim is to improve the quality of life of patients and residents and support family members while humanizing health care, one patient/resident at a time.

We use therapeutic recreation to enable patients and residents with physical, cognitive, emotional and/or social limitations to gain and/or maintain the skills, knowledge and behaviors that will allow them to: enjoy their leisure optimally; function independently with the least amount of assistance; and, participate as fully as possible in society. Recreation intervention is provided by Bruyère's trained professionals in clinical settings.

At Bruyère, the therapeutic recreation department is small, and a placement here will offer hands on experience in close mentorship with members of the team.
