Nursing students are welcome at Bruyère in three different kinds of placements:

1. Observation Only

In this placement, students only observe the care provided without hands-on participation. Students are required to sign a confidentiality agreement prior to the commencement of the experience.

2. Basic Clinical Placement

Students are accompanied by a clinical instructor. The objective for the placement is to apply knowledge and skills learned in the school.

3. Preceptorship/ Consolidation/ Pre-graduate Experience

Students are on the unit for an extended period of time that varies from 2-16 weeks. They will have a preceptor who is an experienced Registered Nurse, Registered Practical Nurse or a Personal Support Worker from Bruyère Hospital. The purpose of this placement is to consolidate the student’s knowledge into the clinical setting.
