RBC Foundation invests $100,000 to support continuing education of nurses at Bruyère.

Cheque presentation

Nurses are essential to our healthcare system. In many ways, they are the glue that keeps the system together. They have been working non-stop, especially these past few years, taking care of our loved ones. They have been delivering exceptional care to patients and taking care of their families, too.

Novice nurses entering the profession have experienced disruptions in their education because of COVID restrictions. Individuals under 30 years of age make up about half of our approximately 140 new hires each year at Bruyère.

RBC’s investment will help Bruyère expand the onboarding process by offering more mentorship opportunities and experiential learning to new nurses. This will happen by increasing partnership shifts ("buddy shifts") during their orientation.

“From the bottom of my heart, and from everyone at RBC, a huge thank you for your dedication and for what you do every day,” said RBC Regional President Marjolaine Hudon who attended a special event at Saint-Vincent Hospital during Nurses Week 2023 to personally recognize the work of nurses.

Bruyère donors and staff celebrate nursing week“That’s why I am so proud that RBC is investing $100,000 in continuing education programs – to help Bruyère's nurses, especially those new to the profession, access the training they need”.

At Bruyère – we are incredibly grateful for RBC’s support. Thank you, RBC Foundation.

We look forward to continuing to leverage this partnership to make life better for the patients at Bruyère and their families.
